Portugal’s dark rock and metallers DARK WINGS SYNDROME have posted two new songs for exclusive streaming at the band’s official MySpace page. Tracks are ‘It’s No Good’ (a DEPECHE MODE cover version) and ‘… In Hades Part. 1’. Singer Miriam Renvag from Norwegian band RAM-ZET features as special guest on ‘… In Hades Part. 1’. Both songs are taken from the DARK WINGS SYNDROME’s new album “ARCANE” released in Europe since August 16th via ETHEREAL SOUND WORKS.
“ARCANE” was mixed and mastered by David Castillo (KATATONIA, BLOODBATH, KLIMT 1918, DRACONIAN) at Ghostward Studio in Stockholm, Sweden. The initial recording sessions for the CD took place at Teatro Construção (ATC), DWS Studio and 213 Studios (Portugal) between August and December 2009/ January 2010 under the guidance of Rui Ferreira (Caps) (Dark Wings Syndrome) and feature several national and international guest appearances.
The bands single ‘Spiritual Emotions’ (taken from the debut album), is still available for free download at: http://www.box.net/shared/static/dlh3l9py72.rar
Cynic have just issued their first post-tour update and the news are that a new third album is being composed. The band’s statement below:
“Dear Cynic family,
We’d like to thank you guys for making our first ever US headlining tour a great success and a lot of fun for us personally! Not only did we have a great time performing a set list this extensive, there was also a real family vibe going on behind the scenes between us, our crew and the guys from Intronaut and Dysrhythmia.
As we are wrapping up our touring cycle for Traced In Air and Re-Traced with this successful tour, it’s time to get ready for album number 3! The first baby steps into this gigantic process are being taken right now, creating little embryos of songs that will turn into fully fledged CYNIC tunes over the course of the following months, exciting!
All the best,
This is certainly something to look for in 2011. To hold you over, make sure to check out our recent posting of some sick multi-cam Cynic live footage.
Re-post. Link is back working!

The Wicked Witch of Sonic Shocks conducted an interview with Shagrath (Stian Tomt Thoresen) on August 23, 2010 in London, England. When asked which musicians will be included in the band’s new touring lineup, Shagrath said:
“I don’t wanna tell you [laughs] right now, because we haven’t started the whole thing yet. We want people more to focus on who is actually DIMMU BORGIR — it’s the core members, which is me,Silenoz [guitar] and Galder [guitar]. And we don’t have six-piece members; we have chosen to be a three-piece, basically for the fact that we had so many lineup changes in the past. You can work with people and then you find out it doesn’t work, or whatever, so we have to decided to pay people to do a job first and see how that goes, and then we take it from there, basically. So who is in the band? It’s the three of us. We have a steady… [laughs] so-called steady live lineup right now, but I don’t wanna mention any names right now at this point.”
Snowy Shaw (Tommie Helgesson; THERION, DREAM EVIL, KING DIAMOND,MERCYFUL FATE, MEMENTO MORI, NOTRE DAME) yesterday (Wednesday, August 25) announced his departure from DIMMU BORGIR’s touring lineup — just one day after confirming that he was recruited byDIMMU BORGIR to replace ICS Vortex on the band’s upcoming ninth album, “Abrahadabra”, and world tour. Shaw has since rejoined Swedish progressive/experimental metallers THERION.
To commemorate two decades MY DYING BRIDE projected to re-work themes from it’s extensive catalogue into long symphonic compositions, adding new vocals and passages from vocalist Aaron Stainthorpe. These arrangements were worked out in cooperation with keyboard maestro Johnny Maudling (of BAL-SAGOTHfame), and “Evinta” is the chosen name for the release scheduled for this fall via Peaceville Records.
Explains guitarist Andrew Craighan:
“Evinta”, a project almost 15 years in the making, an idea that has sat smouldering and never really had a reason to burn alive until now. Nine albums worth of darkness recreated anew to mark 20 years of MY DYING BRIDE. Music arranged to the soundscapes of sorrows past. Finally the 20th anniversary allows us to release this music in a form it has been desperately, woefully waiting for. Enjoy the darkness.”
“Evinta” will be available as a two-disc and special three-disc set, each disc its own sprawling classical work spanning a large period of MY DYING BRIDE‘s album material. The three-disc set will also feature a special and limited 72-page hardback book, containing rare images and photographs from the band’s personal archive from over the years.
To coincide with this 20-year celebration, MY DYING BRIDE will also re-release a vinyl version of “Turn Loose the Swans”, which will be limited to 2,000 numbered copies, and features the original vinyl cover artwork design and gatefold sleeve.
MY DYING BRIDE is:
Aaron Stainthorpe – Vocals
Andrew Craighan – Guitar
Hamish Glencross – Guitar
Lena Abé – Bass
Dan Mullins – Drums
Shaun Macgowan – Keyboards/Violin
