NOVEMBERS DOOM – Band Seeks New Drummer

NOVEMBERS DOOM has parted ways with drummer Sasha Horn. The band released the following statement:

“For once this isn’t your typical ‘musical differences’ excuse; this is simply due to distance and Sasha’s pursuit and focus in other directions, it became clear to all of us, he was no longer able to contribute the same dedication to NOVEMBERS DOOM as the rest of the band. We wish Sasha the best in his future endeavors.

“As for the future of NOVEMBERS DOOM, we are currently seeking to fill this position. Anyone interested in this opportunity can contact us through drummer@novembersdoom.com. Several projects are already in the works, and [while] it’s too soon for any formal announcements, we can assure you, NOVEMBERS DOOM’s best days are yet to come.”

The video for “What Could Have Been”, which features a guest appearance by Dutch singer Anneke Van Giersbergen (AGUA DE ANNIQUETHE GATHERING), can be watched below. The song comes off the bands album“Aphotic”, released on May 10 via The End Records.

Wayne STATIC-X Static -Solo Single Available For Streaming

Wayne Static STATIC-X frontman will release with his first solo album entitled  October 4 via Dirthouse Records.

The “Pighammer” tracks list:

01. Pighammer
02. Around The Turn
03. Assassins Of Youth
04. Thunder Invader
05. Static Killer
06. She
07. Get It Together
08. Chrome Nation
09. Shifter
10. Slave
11. The Creatures Are Everywhere
12. Behind The Sky

The press release says:

“Pighammer” “has a disarming raw quality of heavy driving guitar riffs and lyrics that will take hold of your bowels and into the mind of Static’s dark past and warped mind. This is blatant, as the first single, ‘Assassins Of Youth’, was inspired by Wayne Static’s last days of drugs and partying.

Wayne Stactic:

“I wrote this song while living in a hotel room, listening to PINK FLOYD, drinking Crown and doing whippits. I started the song in that condition but never finished it until years later after dumping off the drugs. Now the song has a whole new meaning from when I started it.”

“The ‘Pighammer’ concept conjures up bizarre images. It’s about a mad plastic surgeon, with a pig fetish, that likes to convert hot chicks into pigs. It is the total opposite if what a plastic surgeon would do. He has this crazy hammer device made from a pig foot. The images of the surgery in the CD package are only a dark comedic visualization of the real theme of the album, which is my transformation.”

The new song “Assassins Of Youth”, can be listened via YouTube video below. The name is an old-school term for drugs and the  first verse is about doing drugs, the chorus is going dry and the second chorus is about getting off and no longer being slave to the drugs.

NAPALM DEATH – New Album Pushed To February

NAPALM DEATH’s bassist Shane Embury revealed in an exclusive interview to the website “BraveWords”, that although his band’s new album was originally scheduled for release this October, it’s been pushed back to February 2012.

Shane:

“The October release isn’t going to happen, we’ve finished the album. We’re still negotiating with the record label, Century Media, which is pretty much done, but I think it’s safe to say that the album will probably come out in February of next year unfortunately. It’s a bit of a shame, unless something miraculous turns around, but pretty much everything is good to go. It’s just a case of waiting for the label to decide how they want to push it and in what particular way, because obviously the label does their campaign and promotion. We’re getting to that period of the year now, time just goes so fast. We’re already in the middle of August and before you know it, it’s going to be the end of the year, so February might be a better time slot for it.”

When asked how the new Napalm Death album compares to the 13 that came before it, Shane replied:

“It’s very tricky for me to explain it all because I constantly write songs. Even when we finish an album, I have ideas left over, so it’s always a continuous thing from my part. There’s one song on the new album that I started writing a couple of the riffs like fucking 20 years ago; I’ve only just finished the song, it’s weird. It’s got everything you would like from Napalm. There’s crazy chord changes, some really catchy heavy mid-paced stuff, Barney (Greenway, vocalist) is trying some different stuff vocally. Mitch (Harris, guitarist) is actually singing the verses on a couple of the songs and Barney’s backing up on the choruses, so that’s going to be a little bit different. Mitch has this very old school Bill Crooks – CRYPTIC SLAUGHTER kind of voice, so you hear his tone coming in for a little bit. I think the album’s pretty varied. Sometimes you’re so close to it, it’s hard to define to anyone else. If you like the band, then you won’t be disappointed.”

“16 tracks on the main album. We actually recorded 21 songs – a couple which we’re going to save for a split with MELVINS.”

As far as the album title goes, Shane admits:

“We’ve got a title but I’ve been told that I can’t tell anybody. We have song titles like ‘Quarantine’, ‘Think Tank Trials’, ‘Analysis Paralysis’ – quite abstract titles as per usual with Mr. Greenway. It’s a pretty manic record. I tried to push the noise element a little bit, there’s stop-start time structures. Mitch has pushed the CELTIC FROST vibe. It carries on from the last record (2009’s Time Waits For No Slave).”
