Roy Kristensen and Alexander Skottene Twiss of Imhotep Productions recently conducted an interview with Swedish progressive metallers OPETH. You can now watch the chat in four parts above.
OPETH recently completed a North America co-headlining tour with MASTODON. The trek kicked off on April 4 in Portland, Maine, and visited more than 30 cities in the U.S. and Canada before wrapping up at Atlanta’s Masquerade on May 12.
OPETH‘s new album, “Heritage“, sold 19,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 19 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band’s previous studio CD, 2008’s “Watershed“, opened with more than 19,000 units to land at No. 23.
“Watershed” was the follow-up to the band’s acclaimed “Ghost Reveries” CD, which debuted at No. 64 on the Billboard chart back in September 2005 with first-week sales of just under 15,000.

In a recent interview with Drum! magazine, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich discussed his playing ability, or inability.
Lars Ulrich: “I usually feel like I’ve regressed. [laughs] I’m like, ‘Why can’t I do that anymore?’ You know, when I heard these songs [from ‘Beyond Magnetic‘] a couple of months ago, I thought that it sounded really exciting.
I thought there was a really good, lively vibe — it’s a bunch of guys just playing together, and it sounded really full of energy and spunk and liveliness.
And that was kind of the whole thing on the ‘Death Magnetic’ sessions was to try to keep all that energy as preserved as possible.”

Denver thrashers SILENCER will release The Great Bear on September 25th. The album is the group’s third full-length album and their first concept record. The band has this to say about the music of The Great Bear, an approach that took the band back to its heavy metal roots.
Silencer has followed a steady progression of thrash through the years, bordering on the extreme on recent releases. On this album we rewind to more 70’s and 80’s influences, aiming to bring a bit more rock back into metal without sacrificing any punch; things like big choruses and hooks as opposed to our previous works’ all out intensity and such. We were definitely influenced by concept albums such as Rush‘s 2112 and Queensryche‘s Operation: Mindcrime (among others) in putting together our story. This album musically is more denim, spikes, spit and vodka than anything we’ve done.
The Great Bear will be distributed by Vanity Music Group and will be available in stores, iTunes and Amazon MP3. Available physical formats are CD and limited edition 180-gram vinyl.
SILENCER will be performing on select warm-up dates and are in the planning stages for tours following the album’s release.
