EPICA’s SIMONE SIMONS, MARK JANSEN Discuss How They Write Lyrics Together

Vocalist Simone Simons and guitarist Mark Jansen of Dutch symphonic metallers EPICA recently spoke to U.K.’s Kerrang! magazine about how they write lyrics together.

EPICA’s sixth studio album, “The Quantum Enigma“, will be released in North America on May 6 via Nuclear Blast.

Where the 2013 “Retrospect” performance reflected on a decade as one of the leading bands in the symphonic metal scene, “The Quantum Enigma” marks the beginning of a new EPICA: modern, heavy, and without compromises.

Says the band:

“More than any of our previous albums, this album is a group effort. The only goal we had in mind: creating the album that could lift EPICA up to the next level.”

The Quantum Enigma” was produced by Joost van den Broek at the Sandlane recording facility in the Netherlands. The album was mixed by Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, HATESPHERE).

LAMB OF GOD’s CHRIS ADLER Talks About His Musical Beginnings

Drummer Chris Adler of Richmond, Virginia metallers LAMB OF GOD visited the Hollywood Guitar Center Vintage Room to talk about his musical beginnings and what drumming does for him on a professional and personal level.

In 2011, Chris Adler released a comprehensive, behind-the-scenes narrative book, detailing the early days of LAMB OF GOD through the writing and recording of the band’s “New American Gospel” album. This is the first and only book chronicling the history of the making of this classic LP. Known for not pulling any punches, Adler tells the real story, warts and all.

Over 100 oversized pages personally written by Chris Adler, the book also includes drum tablature, transcribed and verified by Adler himself. Along with refreshingly accurate drum tabs per song, Adler precedes each song on the album with pages of written detail on how and why “New American Gospel” came to be, and his view of how it worked, or didn’t, in the band’s live set.

TOXIK Featuring SHADOWS FALL’s JASON BITTNER Debuts New Material In Eindhoven

Fan-filmed video footage of resurrected cult classic progressive thrashers TOXIK performing on April 27 at Dynamo in Eindhoven, The Netherlands can be seen above.

TOXIK recently spent time in the studio mixing its long-awaited comeback album “In Humanity“. According to a press release, this CD “will encompass everything TOXIK is known for, as well as some surprises.”

TOXIK last year announced the addition of SHADOWS FALL drummer Jason Bittner and FREYA bassist Bill Bodily to the group’s ranks.

Hailing from New York’s Hudson Valley area, TOXIK released a pair of classic thinking-man’s thrash metal albums in the late ’80s. An upstart record label named Roadrunner Records (later home to SLIPKNOT and NICKELBACK) released the band’s two astounding masterworks, 1988’s “World Circus” and 1989’s “Think This“.

Both releases saw TOXIK take the aggression and brutality of speed metal and mix it with the technicality and proficiency of progressive hard rock.

Jo Schüftan of Horns Up Rocks! conducted an interview with TWISTED SISTER singer Dee Snider on the “black carpet” of this year’s Revolver Golden Gods awards on April 23 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, California.

Dee Snider’s Rock & Roll Christmas Tale“, starring and written by iconic rocker Dee Snider, directed by Adam John Hunter and produced by John B. Yonover, will play the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place (175 E Chestnut) November 4, 2014 through January 4, 2015.

Dee Snider’s Rock & Roll Christmas Tale” will be part of the Broadway In Chicago 2014 Fall Season.

Dee Snider’s Rock & Roll Christmas Tale” tells the story of DÄISY CÜTTER, a heavy metal bar band looking to make it big even though the ’80s are LONG over.

This year, these four guys are ready to take the ultimate step and, in mythic rock tradition, sell their souls to the devil in exchange for success beyond their wildest metal dreams! But every time they try to seal the infernal pact, their headbanging anthems turn into warm-hearted carols.

Soon these rockers are forced to realize their dreams of stardom are no match for the Christmas spirit.

In May 2012, Snider released both a memoir, “Shut Up And Give Me The Mic“, and a showtunes album, “Dee Does Broadway“.
