SOILWORK Interviewed By Stormbringer.at At Czech Republic’s BRUTAL ASSAULT Festival

On August 9, Eva Oswald and Björn Franck of Stormbringer.at conducted an interview with Swedish metallers SOILWORK at this year’s edition of the Brutal Assault festival in the Czech Republic.

Asked about the status of SOILWORK‘s upcoming first-ever concert DVD, which was filmed on March 21 at Circus in Helsinki, Finland, SOILWORK drummer Dirk Verbeuren told Kaaos TV: “We’re in the middle of pretty much editing it. It’s looking really good already. We’re just kind of working on the details to get all the bonus material together; we actually did some interviews this morning. And it’ll be a few more weeks, at least, until it’s complete. But we’re really happy with how it came out so far.”

SOILWORK singer Björn “Speed” Strid added: “It [was] the first time that we really performed songs from each and every album, including the latest double album as well. So it’s gonna be a very long show. So I think it’s gonna be a very cool mix of songs from our entire career.”

SOILWORK‘s DVD is being produced by Jouni Markkanen and directed by Ville Lipiäinen, who also helmed the most recent NIGHTWISH DVD, “Showtime, Storytime“.

New York Dolls Guitarist Johnny Thunders Subject Of New Documentary

Johnny Thunders was the legendary hard-living rock ‘n’ roll guitarist of the New York Dolls and Heartbreakers who inspired glam-metal, punk and the music scene in general. ‘Looking For Johnny’ is a 90-minute film, slated for release on DVD October 14th, that documents Thunders‘ career from his beginnings to his tragic death in 1991.

When Johnny Thunders died in New Orleans on April 23rd 1991, he left behind a mystery. Though MTV and international broadsheets reported the guitarist’s demise, for many in the mainstream, Thunders was perceived as an enigmatic outlaw.

He was adored by a legion of devotees and cited as an influence by at least three successive generations of musicians. Thunders refused to play the corporate game and was both elevated and damned for it.

‘Looking For Johnny’ is the creation of the documentary maker, Danny Garcia (‘The Rise & Fall of The Clash’) — through Chip Baker Films in association with Jungle Records and MVD Entertainment Group.
