TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA’s ‘Letters From The Labyrinth’ Cracks U.S. Top 10

Letters From The Labyrinth“, the new album from TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA, the collaboration between longtime SAVATAGE singer/songwriter Jon Oliva and producer Paul O’Neill, entered The Billboard 200 chart at position No. 7 with first-week sales of just over 45,000 units.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).

Prior to the release of “Letters From The Labyrinth“, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA sold nearly ten million albums throughout its illustrious career. 2009’s “Night Castle” debuted at No. 5 on The Billboard 200 chart and is now certified platinum.

Christmas Eve And Other Stories” (1996) boasted the smash hit “Christmas Eve Sarajevo 12/24” and was certified triple platinum with over 3.4 million albums sold. “The Christmas Attic” (1998) earned certified platinum status with over 1.8 million albums sold. “The Lost Christmas Eve” (2004), featuring hit single “Wizards In Winter“, was certified double platinum with 2.3 million albums sold. “Beethoven’s Last Night” (2000), TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA‘s first non-holiday rock opera, was certified gold with more than 650,000 album sales.

TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA

Released on Nocember 13 via Universal Music, “Letters From The Labyrinth” finds a conceptually provocative song cycle pushing the proverbial envelope yet again — this time with what O’Neill calls TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA‘s “first hybrid album”. The overall concept is based on TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA‘s “Night Castle” (2009) and a dialogue between the wisdom of the past and the hopes for the future, via a correspondence between a child and an old friend of the child’s grandfather.

On “Letters From The Labyrinth“, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA deals with subjects as broad as humanity’s journey through the ages (“Time & Distance“), and as specific as bullying (“Not The Same“), the fall of the Berlin Wall (“Prometheus“) and the world banking controversies (“Not Dead Yet“).
