[ALBUM RELEASES] With “Force Of Luna“ VISIONATICA are making the wolves dance under the blood moon!

Led by their singing she-wolf Amara Avodem, VISIONATICA are heading off to the first league of Symphonic Metal. With her fantastic und crystal clear soprano vocals, combined with the powerful grooves, melodic guitars, as well as impressive orchestral elements of her allies, this musical pack blows up a lot of dust in the scene with its debut “Force Of Luna“. With their first music video to the song “She Wolf“ from October 2015, which can score with a thrilling plot, the four musicians from the south of Germany set a huge cinematically exclamation mark, which is anything but common for a band this young. The album’s nine diverse songs were recorded and produced by Timon Seidl in the Red Audio Studios. For mixing and mastering they could enchant no less a figure than Gate Studio’s Olaf Reitmeier, who already worked with metal giants like Avantasia, Rhapsody or Epica. VISIONATICA are implementing their musical vision purposefully and leave nothing to chance. Therefore not only fans of bands like Within Temptation, Nightwish or Xandria should note the 20th of May in their calendars, when the album is released through Dr. Music Records!

In fall 2013, singer Amara Avodem and guitarist Manuel Buhl got together to implement their idea of a Symphonic Metal band. Together with bass player Michael Wolnitza und drummer Gerhard Spanner they started developing an elaborate concept and the songwriting for their debut. The result is an extremely melodic and at the same time powerful end energetic album, where skillfully composed orchestral sections go perfectly hand in hand with the virtuosic guitars, driving drums and the superb voice of the classically trained vocalist. The incredibly atmospheric intro already shows in which direction the album is going and puts the listener in the right mood for the following, unique listening experience with a movie score like orchestral arrangement. Steve Crouse’s epic spoken part in the following “Swamp Of The World“ could as well be taken from one of ‘The Lord Of The Rings’ movies. The incredibly impressive and well produced music video by Limlight Production (i.a. Equlibrium, Ensiferum, Kataklysm) for the song “She Wolf“ offers fast and melodic guitar riffs which tremendously match the front woman’s outstanding singing. The clip combines motion picture like scenes, where a werewolf goes out to hunt, with an intense live performance of the band. The chorus is extremely catchy and the epic guitar solo is a pleasure for fans of demanding guitar playing. A lot of the time, VISIONATICA thematically deal with the mythology about wolves and singer Amara also has chosen the wolf as her personal “Totem“, which is processed musically in the eponymous song. However, they don’t limit themselves to this topic, but rather deal in a groovy kind of way with the story of Lilith, Adams first women in paradise, which was concealed by the church, because she had equal rights to Adam. “Certainty Of Benevolence“ then again combines the balkan and the oriental cultures to an exciting melodic metal song which encourages to belly dance. In the ballad “The Thorns“ Amara thanks someone for saving her from valley of shadow and death and sings a duet with no less a figure than Winterstorm singer Michael Liewald. Goose bump atmosphere is guaranteed. The violins parts were, except for the song “She Wolf“, recorded by Fiddler’s Green musician Tobias Heindl.

With “Force Of Luna“ VISIONATICA created an album that tells stories about wolves, visions, lies, myths and much more. They underline the whole thing with unbelievably epic arrangements, formed from mighty orchestral parts, demanding guitar riffs as well as bass lines and precise drumming. Above all of this Amara’s wonderfully concise soprano singing is enthroned. This all together results in impressive Symphonic Metal music that casts a spell over everyone who listens to “Force Of Luna“ once. A must-buy, not only for fans of this genre!

[ALBUM RELEASES] IN.SI.DIA releases Denso Inganno via Punishment 18 Records on the 31st March 2017!

IN.SI.DIA are a Thrash Metal band formed in Brescia in 1987 under the name INVIOLACY.
In 1991, the group entered the studio to record the first demo “No compromises”, containing four songs in English. Due to the sudden and great response the band performs in clubs along the peninsula until they were noticed by OMAR PEDRINI. He proposed to record a new demo to present to different labels.
In 1993 the band enters the PSYCHO Milan studios to record their first full length and decides to change his name to IN.SI.DIA; the choice is due to the fact to change the language of the texts, sung entirely in Italian to have a more immediate monicker, easy to remember and to represent fully the spirit of the group.

Immediately, in September ’93 it is published “INSTINTO E RABBIA” for Polydor label. In the same year they recorded the video clip for the single “PARLA PARLA”.
“INSTINTO E RABBIA”, celebrated by critics and audiences at national and international level, is supported by a tour around Italy that touches the main locations including the City Square in Milan, where the Brescia combo closes the cycle dedicated to the disc and he performs together with FIGHT ROB HALFORD.
In 1995 IN.SI.DIA entering the HIGHLAND STUDIOS Milan and record “GUARDA DENTRO TE”.
After this publication the band reached the height of its success, and starts again on tour for another two years.
In 1997 IN.SIDIA entered the studio to compose new songs but the friction between components have an impact on the compositions, which at the end are not convincing. In the same year IN.SI.DIA decide to disband.
In 2011 albums “INSTINTO E RABBIA” and “GUARDA DENTRO TE” are reprinted from Jolly Roger Records, behind a strong demand for what is now the metal audience of the 2000s; clear sign that the band was never forgotten and that even in the years of inactivity the monicker IN.SI.DIA continues to add new fans to the ranks of its supporters.
Over the years the band is often proposed to come together until they are contacted by the agency in 2013 Italian Eagle Booking Live Promotion, with whom he forms an agreement for the care of their image. Subsequently, IN.SI.DIA are confirmed as headliner for METALITALIA.com FESTIVAL at the prestigious Live Music Club, where the band will perform May 17, 2014 together AT THE GATES, MASTER and others to definitively establish their return on scenes.

The current lineup includes three of the four original members.

IN.SI.DIA line up:
Fabio Lorini – Bass, Vocals
Manuel Merigo – Guitar

The main disc of Triple Threat comprises a set of ANNIHILATOR‘s classics performed acoustically, with band leader/guitarist/songwriter and vocalist Jeff Waters bringing together band members Aaron Homma and Rich Hinks, Vancouver, BC drummer and friend Marc LaFrance, plus Ottawa session player Pat Robillard. Recorded and mixed by Waters, this quintet recorded everything live, off the floor and in single takes at Watersound Studios in Dunrobin, Canada during late May and early June 2016, giving Waters one of the most challenging, satisfying and perhaps ‘electric’ creative moments in his career.

The second disc features ANNIHILATOR‘s vicious set from the 2016 BANG YOUR HEAD Festival, a set which illustrates the very best of what ANNIHILATOR is known for – tight, sharp, technically-excellent and melodic thrash metal music. It also contains some exclusive inside-ANNIHILATOR off-stage perspective, which captures further elements, flavors and detail of the band which fans will flip over.

Unplugged: The Watersound Studios Sessions:

  1. Sounds Good To Me
  2. Bad Child
  3. Innnocent Eyes
  4. Snake In The Grass
  5. Fantastic Things
  6. Holding On
  7. Stonewall
  8. In The Blood
  9. Crystal Ann
  10. Phoenix Rising

Live At The BANG YOUR HEAD Festival:

  2. No Way Out
  3. Creepin’ Again
  4. Set The World On Fire
  5. W.T.Y.D. (Welcome To Your Death)
  6. Never, Neverland
  7. Bliss
  8. Second To None
  9. Refresh The Demon
  10. Alison Hell
  11. Phantasmagoria

The BluRay and DVD visual content is split in 3 parts:

Chapter I – Annihilator Un-Plugged: The Watersound Studios Sessions (62 mins)

Chapter II – Annihilator Live at the BANG YOUR HEAD Festival (45 mins)

Chapter III – ANNIHILATOR: Summer Mini-Documentary 2016 (45 mins)

Plus Bonus Video Chapters: “Jeff’s Commentary On The Acoustic Songs” and “Jeff Answers Fan Questions”

Jeff Waters states, “This was one of the coolest things I have done in my long career. Having five people in a room, from all different backgrounds and talents, coming together to play songs from the past, and to try to sound like we are one but totally live and with feeling. This was one of the biggest challenges that ANNIHILATOR has faced, musically, but what impressed me the most was how you can hear all the individual styles each player has and how we were able to glue the playing and feel together. Done all in one take and with all the musical blemishes and imperfections that I would never normally let slide!

This set covers some of the melodic songs, one even from 1984 (when a few of these guys were not even born!) and I just had to do this once in my life… to challenge myself and maybe show some others that it’s not always just about the metal and the thrash! Rock n’ roll and ballads are found everywhere in heavy metal.

ANNIHILATOR are made up of a helluva lot of styles, mixed into one. That’s exactly what kind of musicians I put together for this set – a mixed bag of rockers and metalheads – and they made our legacy proud! Enjoy… we sure love this one.”

Prog-Rock Group SOEN Reveals Music Video for Introspective Track “Lucidity”!

SOEN – the heavy progressive rock group featuring world-renowned drummer Martin Lopez (formerly of Amon Amarth and Opeth) and the dynamic voice of Joel Ekelöf (Willowtree) – will release their upcoming full-length opus Lykaia on February 3, 2017 via UDR Music. After initially introducing the album to fans with the charging, groovy first single “Sectarian“, SOEN are returning to showcase another side of their sound by premiering the smooth, downtempo prog-rock track “Lucidity”.

Lopez tells Billboard,“This song represents a time in my life when I unconsciously walked towards self-destruction and celebrates, to an extent, the death of that lifestyle and the birth of a new era. It’s dark but comforting. The music is soft and dreamy but carries the tension of a past-life full of mistakes.”

Hear more commentary from Martin Lopez regarding the musical direction of SOEN via the band’s exclusive video interview series with MetalSucks. In this week’s edition, Lopez discusses venturing out into new musical projects and also details the story behind the band’s new track “Opal”, which you can hear a sample of in the background. Check outweek one here, and come back each Thursday through the release of Lykaia to hear further commentary from other members of the band.

Lykaia is a journey into earthy, emotional places, and is SOEN‘smost cohesive, powerful and congruent creative quest yet. For those who have followed the band’s career thus far, the new album’s concepts of journey and exploration are not new. 2012’s Cognitive beat a firmly heavy, progressive metal path. 2014’s Tellurian – with its Pink Floyd explorative spirit and Opeth-like forceful power – saw SOEN start to stride freely into their own control and unique visions. Lykaia sees SOEN remain fascinated with the shadows and the darker edges of our world, with a particular focus on the various thoughts and concepts behind religion and ritualistic, belief-based behaviour in society.

Lykaia pre-orders are now available in three formats – digitally, audio CD in digisleeve, and gatefold vinyl. Order now and receive “Sectarian” and “Lucidity” as immediate downloads.

“Sectarian” instant grat: http://hyperurl.co/SoenSectarian

Recorded at Ghost Ward, StudioGröndal and Deep Well in Stockholm, Sweden, with production duties handled by guitarist Marcus Jidell and mixing by Stefan Boman,

SOEN kept things as far away from the digital age as possible on

Lykaia, embracing warmth and organic recordings as the drive behind the technical working process.

If the first two albums were harder, more technical, angular and perhaps cerebral pieces which demanded sharp focus, Lykaia presents a warmer, rounder, flesh and blood on the bones approach that allows listeners a dual entry to the eight tracks presented. The journey is no less dynamic, continuing the underscore of complex melodies with crushing power and no fear of walking proudly into more ambient spaces to explore the temperature. With Lykaia, however, it is clear that SOEN have never felt more congruent or sure of themselves.

LykaiaTrack listing:

1 – Sectarian

2 – Orison

3 – Lucidity

4 – Opal

5 – Jinn

6 – Sister

7 – Stray

8 – Paragon

Retro-Punk Rockers SINNER SINNERS Confront Alcoholism with New Track “Last Drop”!

Classic rock, hardcore and punk-influenced group SINNER SINNERS recently announced the upcoming release of their thirdfull-length album, entitled Optimism Disorder, out March 7, 2017 via Cadavra Records. Optimism Disorder follows 2014’s aggressive Nic Jodoin-produced (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club), XI, but is further influenced by the intensity of early ’80s hardcore fused with an incendiary ’70s goth punk ethos.

Since moving from France several years ago, founding duo Steve and Sam Thill have witnessed the blatant hypocrisies of Hollywood first hand, and a good portion of Optimism Disorder dissects those specific observations, as well as perceptions of society as a whole. While the first track released from the record, “California“, paints a picture of Hollywood “smoke and mirrors”, their newest offering, “Last Drop”, focuses entirely on the passive justifications and eventual guilt of an alcoholic. Listen to “Last Drop”now via PunkNews.org:  https://www.punknews.org/article/62861/sinners-sinners-last-drop-punknews-exclusive

SINNER SINNERS frontman Steve Thill states,Optimism Disorder is about the damages of optimism, religions, group mentality and all kinds of other mental disorders as well as alcoholism, depression, addiction, loss. Regarding the track “Last Drop” – growing up in France, we’ve been surrounded by alcohol and started drinking at a very early age. You can drink beer or wine in a bar at 16 and hard liquor at 18, and since there wasn’t any carding going on at our time, we started at 12. Alcoholism in our county is a huge problem so we’ve always been surrounded by addictions, and as you get older, you start realizing no matter how sober you think you are, there’s always something to replace the booze or the drug in your life.

The title, “Last Drop”, is inspired by a French saying “la goutte d’eau qui fait déborder le vase” which means, “the drop of water that made the vase overflow”. Similar to how American’s say “the last straw” or “the straw that broke the camel’s back”.”

Another main topic explored within the tracks of Optimism Disorder is one commonly experienced but rarely discussed – aging out of the comfortable and often complacent years of youth and into the metaphorical hourglass of adult responsibility, uncertainty and often, regret.

“This is definitely the darkest stuff we’ve ever written,” adds Thill. “We went for something darker, moodier and heavier lyrically and musically, and took a more classic rock approach to it.”

Optimism Disorder is available for pre-order in digital and CD formats here. In addition, Optimism Disorder will also be available on limited edition, colored 12-inch vinyl via Last Hurrah Records in North America. Visit www.lasthurrahrecords.com to order your vinyl copy. European fans can order their vinyl via Left Front Door Records here.

The LP was recorded at Rancho de La Luna in Joshua Tree, California (mostly known for giving birth to the Desert Sessions and recording artists such as

Queens of the Stone Age, Iggy Pop, Kyuss, Arctic Monkeys), assorted Los Angeles hide-outs, and engineered in Clermont-Ferrand France. Optimism Disorder was produced by Adam Greenspan (Refused, INVSN, Maximo Park) and Thomas Bellier (Spindrift, Blaak Heat), mixed by Pascal Mondaz in France, and mastered by Simon Capony at Basalte Studio. The album also features additional engineering by Nic Jodoin (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club) and Jon Russo. Last but very not least, vocalist/guitarist Jesse Hughes of rock n’ roll groundbreakers Eagles Of Death Metal makes his mark on Optimism Disorder via flute contributions.

Optimism Disorder track listing:

  1. Last Drop
  2. California
  3. Desperation Saved Me…
  4. Choke
  5. Hate Yourself
  6. Shadow
  7. Outsider
  8. Together We Stand
  9. I Had Too Much To Dream (written by Annette Tucker and Nancie Mantz, as performed by the Electric Prunes)
  10. Preachers
  11. Celexa Blues (feat. Jesse Hughes [Eagles Of Death Metal])

SINNER SINNERS have shared the stage with bands such as Refused, The Sonics, Black Flag and have opened for Eagles of Death Metal in the US and on their European tour. After a very successful year, the band is ready to hit the road yet again and perform their new album. Before solidifying spring touring plans, the band will perform at The Echo in Los Angeles on January 22 with The Hangmen. The show begins at 8:00pm, is 18+ and is $8-9.50. Visit this link for ticket info.

Optimism Disorder burns with a neurotic post-punk brightness guaranteed to spontaneously combust your senses on impact. Stay tuned for more tracks, videos and other media being released in advance of the album’s release.

Australia’s Sticks For Stones caught up with Sepultura guitarist Andreas Kisser to discuss the band’s new album, Machine Messiah. During the conversation, Kisser was asked if he listens to former Sepultura frontman Max Cavalera’s music:

Kisser: “I have no reason not to listen to what he does. He made the albums with Soulfly and Cavalera Conspiracy and different projects here and there and stuff, and, of course, I listen. But we are doing very different stuff nowadays. We are in different worlds, although we play metal, but we are doing very different things. Which, I think, that’s why he left Sepultura; to do stuff different from what we do. And that’s great, I think it’s a very healthy territory.”

Sepultura’s new album, Machine Messiah, was produced by the band and Jens Borgen (Soilwork, Opeth, Katatonia, Amon Amarth) of Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden. The cover artwork for Machine Messiah was created by Filipino artist Camille Della Rosa.

“Machine Messiah”
“I Am The Enemy”
“Phantom Self”
“Iceberg Dances”
