Retro-Punk Rockers SINNER SINNERS Confront Alcoholism with New Track “Last Drop”!

Classic rock, hardcore and punk-influenced group SINNER SINNERS recently announced the upcoming release of their thirdfull-length album, entitled Optimism Disorder, out March 7, 2017 via Cadavra Records. Optimism Disorder follows 2014’s aggressive Nic Jodoin-produced (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club), XI, but is further influenced by the intensity of early ’80s hardcore fused with an incendiary ’70s goth punk ethos.

Since moving from France several years ago, founding duo Steve and Sam Thill have witnessed the blatant hypocrisies of Hollywood first hand, and a good portion of Optimism Disorder dissects those specific observations, as well as perceptions of society as a whole. While the first track released from the record, “California“, paints a picture of Hollywood “smoke and mirrors”, their newest offering, “Last Drop”, focuses entirely on the passive justifications and eventual guilt of an alcoholic. SINNER SINNERS frontman Steve Thill states,Optimism Disorder is about the damages of optimism, religions, group mentality and all kinds of other mental disorders as well as alcoholism, depression, addiction, loss. Regarding the track “Last Drop” – growing up in France, we’ve been surrounded by alcohol and started drinking at a very early age. You can drink beer or wine in a bar at 16 and hard liquor at 18, and since there wasn’t any carding going on at our time, we started at 12. Alcoholism in our county is a huge problem so we’ve always been surrounded by addictions, and as you get older, you start realizing no matter how sober you think you are, there’s always something to replace the booze or the drug in your life.

The title, “Last Drop”, is inspired by a French saying “la goutte d’eau qui fait déborder le vase” which means, “the drop of water that made the vase overflow”. Similar to how American’s say “the last straw” or “the straw that broke the camel’s back”.”

Another main topic explored within the tracks of Optimism Disorder is one commonly experienced but rarely discussed – aging out of the comfortable and often complacent years of youth and into the metaphorical hourglass of adult responsibility, uncertainty and often, regret.

“This is definitely the darkest stuff we’ve ever written,” adds Thill. “We went for something darker, moodier and heavier lyrically and musically, and took a more classic rock approach to it.”

Optimism Disorder is available for pre-order in digital and CD formats here. In addition, Optimism Disorder will also be available on limited edition, colored 12-inch vinyl via Last Hurrah Records in North America. Visit www.lasthurrahrecords.com to order your vinyl copy. European fans can order their vinyl via Left Front Door Records here.

The LP was recorded at Rancho de La Luna in Joshua Tree, California (mostly known for giving birth to the Desert Sessions and recording artists such as

Queens of the Stone Age, Iggy Pop, Kyuss, Arctic Monkeys), assorted Los Angeles hide-outs, and engineered in Clermont-Ferrand France. Optimism Disorder was produced by Adam Greenspan (Refused, INVSN, Maximo Park) and Thomas Bellier (Spindrift, Blaak Heat), mixed by Pascal Mondaz in France, and mastered by Simon Capony at Basalte Studio. The album also features additional engineering by Nic Jodoin (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club) and Jon Russo. Last but very not least, vocalist/guitarist Jesse Hughes of rock n’ roll groundbreakers Eagles Of Death Metal makes his mark on Optimism Disorder via flute contributions.
