Monstrous black/doom/punk chimera MANTAR have released a teaser video for another brand new track off of their new album, The Modern Art Of Setting Ablaze, set to be unleashed August 24, 2018 via Nuclear Blast.
The Modern Art Of Setting Ablaze (as well as accompanying merchandise) is now available for pre-order in various formats: http://nblast.de/MantarAblaze
Hailing from Northern Germany, MANTAR have achieved more in five years than most bands twice their age and size. The product of a twenty-year friendship between guitarist/vocalist Hanno Klaenhardt and drummer Erinc Sakarya, theirs is a success story born entirely of one thing: hard work, with three albums, an EP and a live release already to their name. Releasing their 2014 Svart Records debut Death By Burning, an uncompromising clash of stripped-back punk attitude and metal intensity to instant critical acclaim, the band toured relentlessly, gracing stages the world over, including the hallowed likes of Roadburn (NL), Wacken Open Air (D) and Maryland Deathfest (US). They used 2016’s Ode To The Flame, their Nuclear Blast Records debut, to further build upon their incendiary live reputation, conquering not only Europe and the US, but Russia, Japan and South Africa.
The Modern Art Of Setting Ablaze is a title in-keeping with MANTAR‘s symbolic obsession with fire on albums previous; this time disavowing mankind’s tendency to blindly follow those that would lead us into oblivion. This isn’t necessarily a political statement; more a morbid fascination with current smoldering tensions that threaten to set the minds of the masses on fire.

Swedish Melodic Folk-Death Metal act Evilon are pleased to announce that they have signed with WormHoleDeath for the release of their debut album “Leviathan”.
“Leviathan” will be out on 28 September 2018 via Wormholedeath / Aural Music Group / The Orchard.
The band was created in 2015 by Kenneth Evstrand and Jonny Sjödin. In the beginning the musicstyle was Melodic Death Metal in the style of At The Gates, Amon Amarth and In Flames among others. During 2016 the music evolved and is now inspired by Celtic and Nordic folkmusic with alot of heavy riffs and capturing melodies. We found our bassplayer and our lead/growler early on, it then took some time before the band was complete but in August 2016 we finally found a drummer that met our requirements and we could really start our journey. During the winter of 2016 Evilon recorded its first EP called “Shores Of Evilon”. It contains five songs written in 2016. The EP was recorded independently by Evilon and it was mixed and mastered by Big Balls Productions. It was then released in January 2017 on Spotify, Itunes, Google Play, Youtube and Soundcloud. In June 2017, the recordings for a full length album began. Now, one year later it’s finished and the name is “Leviathan”. The album contains ten new songs, full of great melodies, awesome vocals and heavy riffs! In February 2018 we signed a worldwide distribution contract with the Italian recordlabel Wormholedeath Records for the release of the album Leviathan. The album will be released the 28th of September in Europe, USA and Japan.

Long-serving Seattle based death metal group DRAWN AND QUARTERED are only a week away from the release date of their seventh opus “The One Who Lurks”. Prior to launching the album publicly in its full, the band reveals the opening track “Nefarious Rites” as the third single from this album.
The Band Comments: “An assortment of old and rotten riffs lurching and writhing. Corpse-grinding rhythms and heinous voices burst forth from decrepit graves. The words are spoken and the earth vomits death. Ave Sathanas.”
“….. it’s exactly as morbid, crusty, and downright disgusting as you’d hope it would be” — Greg Kennelty (Metal Injection)
STREAM THE TRACK RIGHT HERE AT METAL INJECTION
DRAWN AND QUARTERED initially began life under the moniker of Plague Bearer (which is currently a side project of the guitarist Kelly) in 1992. A year after the creation, Plague Bearer started to breath fire under the formidable name Drawn and Quartered. It will be injudicious to play down their prolific career — consisting six acclaimed full lengths and numerous EPs and demos — by only considering the absence of wide-ranging recognition of their niche musical landscape.
Balefully titled upcoming opus “The One Who Lurks” sees no discernible turnaround in the already established signature sound. However, it surely sees the long serving death metal trio to vengefully and ravenously hone the level of ferocity and profanity in an unadulterated way. The eight tracks, containing maelstrom of bizarre riffs, repulsive vocals, and cavernous drumming, individually act as an entryway to unfurl the lurking terror that is maliciously aiming to flay its victim alive.
Drawn and Quartered is confirmed to perform at this year’s Asakusa Deathfest, Japan. They will also perform in other local and international gigs to support the forthcoming album.
Gabriel T Byrne has executed The hideous artwork of this album. The Tucson, Arizona based artist has limned the cover of every Drawn and Quartered full lengths. The label owner Loic F. (Autokrator, N.K.V.D.) has undertaken the duty of the layout, mixing, mastering and the production.

Los Angeles, CA based vocalist and multi-instrumentalist GERRY PAUL NESTLER has announced the release of his debut solo album,“Mama’s Child”. The album is scheduled for a September 12 release and will be celebrated with a Nestler live appearance at The Redwood Bar in Downtown L.A. that same day. A lyric video for the song “Koko My Love”, featuring vintage photographs taken around Los Angeles during the early 1950s by Nestler’s artist father, Frank Nestler, can be viewed below:
First coming to prominence with Southern California avantgarde thrashers CIVIL DEFIANCE, who cultivated a strong cult following in Europe with a pair of critically acclaimed releases in the 1990s, followed by albums with KKLEQ MUZZIL, SUPER RIDER and PHILM, featuring former SLAYER drummer, Dave Lombardo, Nestler has long been one of the most unique and daring musicians in progressive circles. Dialing down the loud in favor of a more introspective, acoustic based approach, “Mama’s Child” marks the latest addition to Nestler’s eclectic body of work. “When I went into the studio to start work on the album in the spring of 2016, I was interested in recording an album for the songs I had been writing on the piano”, reveals Nestler. “The songs reflected the sounds I was hearing from playing and listening to recordings of the early 1900’s, some popular, others more obscure, on through the late 1960’s and into the early 70’s.”
Assembling the album over the course of several months in Los Angeles and New York, Nestler recruited a formidable supporting cast of players, including bassist Pancho Tomaselli (PHILM, WAR), drummer Max MacVeety, and long-time Mike Keneally affiliate, saxophonist/flutist Evan Francis, aided by engineer/producer Chris Sorem at NEST Recorders in East Los Angeles where most of the tracking was done.
“I had met Max (MacVeety) at a PHILM show in L.A.. I asked him if he would be interested in playing drums on an album I was putting together. He was intrigued when I mentioned that the music I was working on had me on the piano instead of the electric guitar and how I had been influenced by Roberta Flack‘s work with drummer Ray Lucas. Max recommended a studio in East L.A., NEST Recorders, which turned out to be the perfect place as it had a 1910 Steinway piano and an echo chamber. We laid down the initial tracks with Chris (Sorem). Not long after that I left for New York where Evan(Francis) tracked in the woodwinds at Figure 8 Studios in Brooklyn with Michael Coleman at the helm. There was also a short visit to Springfield,Massachusetts where Jim Messbauer added some trombone to the tracks. A few months later it was back to LA to finish up and mix with Chris.”
Steeped in ever changing shades of jazz and blues, and conjuring vibes akin to Tom Waits and THE BEATLES’ more experimental moments, “Mama’s Child” is the type of bold musical curveball most artists dare not throw these days. “I never looked at “Mama’s Child” as being a gamble though, just stretching my head, I guess”, reflects Nestler. “I don’t know if this will be the last of its kind for me or the first of more to come. Above all, I’m grateful to have the opportunity to bring forth something, understanding that overvaluation and undervaluation are inevitable results in the business of art. The creative urge continues not to feel the bliss of generation, but a higher ordinance under a compulsion to ceaselessly work. Part of that work for me is to learn to change and grow, but more importantly, the ability to create something that pays homage to those hidden areas of the mind that carry beauty and light.”
“Mama’s Child” track listing:
“Mama’s Child” will be released on The Wild Red Mother Records on vinyl and as a digital download.

Described as…”a delightfully brutal and disgusting sonic assault” by KERRANG!,BROKEN HOPE released their seventh full length studio album Mutilated and Assimilated last via Century Media Records (Sony).
Produced by Scott Creekmore and cover artwork created by Wes Benscoter; Mutilated and Assimilated is available now in the following formats: Special Edition CD+DVD Digipack and digital & streaming versions available via all major outlets worldwide.

“Broken Hope are back in the saddle…composed highlights such as the bestial ‘The Bunker’, the dynamic groove pendulum ‘Outback Incest Clan’, the dissonant, ‘Russian Sleep Experiment’ or the ‘The Necropants’ convey brutal energy in a powerful sound. Chicago’s Death veterans are an interesting bridge to their 1991 debut, ending a solid inferno hit factor.” – METAL HAMMER (DE/Germany)
“The title track references the horror classic The Thing, and that sort of Lovecraftian body horror is at the center of why Broken Hope’s horror metal works so well: they understand that a good monster needs to be scary, but it also needs nuance and times when you can catch your breath and ponder your futile existence. Mutilated and Assimilated nails that aesthetic, as the band’s shape-shifting death melodic brutal death is a (horrifying) beauty to behold. Songs immediately sink their meat hooks into you and stay there for a while. This is the kind of gorefest that is meant to be savored, even if you’d rather look away. Broken Hope have, after all this time, crafted their sharpest statement of intent, and it’s deadly, seriously, great.” – New Noise Magazine
“Taking inspiration from the John Carpenter classic, Mutilated and Assimilated is not only the albums brilliant title track but a representation of the band themselves. Having once more mutilated songs from their original fleshing out to what we will now here on the album the band have crafted some of the heaviest and catchiest Death Metal you’ll hear this year.” – The Metalist
“While the jagged guitars and pummeling rhythms are as gentle as bandsaws, I was most impressed by Damian Leski’s venomous vocals. The man sounds like he’s getting in his regular 64 ounces of Drano on ‘The Bunker’ and ‘Russian Sleep Experiment.’ Mutilated and Assimilated, a reminder that it’s Wagner and Company’s bloody barbecue… and it still tastes good.” – GhostCult Magazine
“In terms of Death Metal albums in 2017, Broken Hope’s Mutilated And Assimilated earns them top honours. Without further upheaval, CrypticRock gives this album 4.5 out of 5 stars.” – CrypticRock.com
“Sure, Mutilated and Assimilated honors Broken Hope’s legacy and finds strength in the past-but it does so without dwelling in the afterbirth. The result is an inspired death metal record that feels like a lethal new mutation; like the creature from The Thing adapting to claim its next victim.” – DECIBEL MAGAZINE

TESTAMENT’s Eric Peterson Reveals Part One of New DRAGONLORD “The Making of Dominion” Video Series.
Renowned Testament guitarist Eric Peterson recently announced the release of his highly-anticipated new DRAGONLORD album, entitled Dominion, out September 21, 2018 via Spinefarm Records. The symphonic black/death metal album serves as the long-awaited follow-up to 2005’s Black Wings of Destiny, but takes the fantasy and storytelling to a whole new level. Dominion explores themes of darkness owning and influencing these times we now live in, and things that have come to pass. It also delves into other eras, real and otherworldly.
Digital and physical pre-orders for Dominion are live here: Physical + Merch | Digital. While online, get your first taste of Dominion now by streaming the album’s title track via lyric video :
Dominion track listing:
1) Entrance
2) Dominion
3) Ominous Premonition
4) Lamia
5) Love of the Damned
6) Northlanders
7) The Discord of Melkor
8) Serpents of Fire
Peterson recorded Dominion at Northern California’s Trident Studios and produced it with an assist from engineer/mixer Juan Urteaga (Testament, Machine Head, M.O.D.). Dominion was mastered by famed producer/engineer Jens Bogren of Fascination Street Studios in Sweden.
Peterson formed DRAGONLORD in 2000 as its singer and guitarist (with keyboardist Lyle Livingston and now-ex-members Steve Di Giorgio of Testament and Jon Allen ofSadus), and notes that the growth from DRAGONLORD‘s first two records to the cinematic triumph and brutal blast-beats of Dominion has been immense. Dominion‘s stellar, complex, brutally symphonic metal is triumphant in its execution, bringing together layers of meaning and musicality into an unholy whole.
Stay tuned for information on the official DRAGONLORD comic, “THE BURNER”, which is scheduled to be released during this year’s San Diego Comic Con!

MUSHROOMHEAD Pay Tribute to The Evil Dead in Terrifying New Music Video for Alternate Version of “We Are The Truth”.
Influential Cleveland, Ohio-based metal pioneers MUSHROOMHEAD recently announced the release of their upcoming DVD, entitled VOLUME III, a follow up to the widely-acclaimed DVD’s Volume 1 (2005) and Volume 2 (2008). The DVD is set to hit retailers on August 17, 2018 via Megaforce Records and will feature over 90 minutes of new material – including stunning new music videos, backstage antics, and exclusive never-seen-before content. Pre-orders are available now via Amazon.
Osaka’s Crossfaith have released “Catastrophe”, the latest track from their new album “Ex_Machina”, set for release on August 3 via UNFD.
Speaking of the track, singer Kenta ‘Ken’ Koie says “Catastrophe is another new song from our new album Ex Machina, which we are very excited about releasing! To inspire me to write this song I watched DEVILMAN crybaby, which is a famous Japanese sci-fi action anime, and it helped me write the lyrics. We always want our fans to experience something they’ve never had before through our music and shows, so we are looking forward to seeing everyone on our UK & Europe tour later this year!”.
“Ex_Machina” is the Japanese band’s fifth album and the follow-up to 2015’s critically acclaimed “Xeno”. The album features an impressive cameo from Enter Shikari frontman Rou Reynolds as well industrial hip hoppers Ho99o9. “Ex_Machina” is a concept album set in an alternative near future in which the ruling class, known as Angels, maintain their world through artificial intelligence and other technology, which dehumanises people and effectively turns them into drones
Frontman Kenta ‘Ken’ Koie explains: “After we released last album ‘XENO’, we were thinking about what the next theme for us is. Then we decided to put theme ‘Awake the individuality’. Because we’ve always trying to make new things and that’s the big part of band’s attitudes. Technology has been advancing from when I was kid, and it definitely helps the world but at the same time I feel like technology take out important process to think about individuality in exchange for convenience. This album is a grave warning for our future, I hope you guys listen to this and think about what the meaning of this album is for you and feel how you feel through this album and start something for your future”.
Norwegian Alternative Metallers MADDER MORTEM have today not only announced the details of their upcoming seventh full-length album “Marrow”, they have also revealed a track from the album.
Titled “Moonlight Over Silver White” the track is, according to the band, “the essence of what Madder Mortem is about. The contrasts between the gentle and the brutal, the chugging grooviness of the guitars in counterpoint to the soaring arpeggios of the vocals, and the wide range of musical influences knit together in a damn strong, heavy song. The lyrics are a tale of the loneliness of a forest in winter, walking lost and small between the downy snow and the glaring stars”.
“Moonglight Over Silver White” is also available as a single, and is available from, and can be heard athttp://phonofile.link/
“Marrow” sees MADDER MORTEM hungrier and heavier than ever before. The eleven-track album is complex, covering a wide variety of genres and sounds that range from moments of folk/prog to avant-garde. From delicate ballads to harsh metal. Agnete M. Kirkevaag’s dynamic and immensely powerful vocals, are, as always, at the fore on an album that is more doomy than its predecessor “Red in Tooth and Claw”, as well as being at times both heavier, and catchier.
Set for release on Dark Essence Records on the 21st September, “Marrow” is about “Sticking to the essence of yourself. Your ideas, your thoughts, your values”. It was produced by BP M. Kirkevaag and mastered by Peter In de Betou at Tailor Maid.
With artwork by the legendary artist Thore Hansen, “Marrow” will be available in Digipak CD, Digital, and Limited Edition Green Vinyl Gatefold LP formats.
Tracklisting for “Marrow” is as follows:
01. Untethered
02. Liberator
03. Moonlight Over Silver White
04. Until You Return
05. My Will Be Done
06. Far From Home
07. Marrow
08. White Snow, Red Shadows
09. Stumble On
10. Waiting To Fall
11. Tethered

MADDER MORTEM also have some news that will please fans who have been clamouring to get their hands on the band’s long-unavailable debut full-length album “Mercury”.
With 2019 being the 20th Anniversary of the release of the album, the band are planning a special re-release of “Mercury” in which the original songs will be re-worked to reflect the MADDER MORTEM of today.
As the band explains:
“Back when we recorded “Mercury”, we were basically just kids, and we knew very little about how the recording process worked. The musicianship was mostly there, and the ideas were absolutely there, but as for production skills … we just liked reverb a lot! Thankfully, we ended up with a result we’re still proud of. But through the years, as we’ve played the songs with different line-ups, we’ve often talked about how cool it would be to bring the skills and know-how we now have to those ideas. BP has even made some quite elaborate pre-prods of several songs, but the timing has never been right for making a release out of it”.
The right time has finally arrived, but in order to be able to bring this much-cherished project, which will include not just the album, but also a very special show, to fruition, MADDER MORTEM really need the help of the metal community, and to this end the band has set up a Crowdfunding page, where fans can become an integral part of the process and reap some very unusual and very unique rewards. To get creative input and feedback from their fans, and to promote the new album, they’re also going out on their first headliner tour this fall.
