Protective Fence Erected Around Graves Of PANTERA Legends DIMEBAG And VINNIE PAUL!

A protective fence has been erected around the graves of legendary PANTERA guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott and his brother, PANTERA drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott, presumably to guard them from vandalism.

Several recent photos and video clips of the graves at the Moore Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Arlington, Texas — taken before and after they became fully enclosed by the metal fence — can be seen below.

Vinnie Paul‘s grave marker at Moore Memorial Gardens was officially installed in May 2019. That same day, two pictures of the gravesite were released via PANTERA‘s social media, along with the message: “We ask that you please be respectful when visiting the brothers’ graves.”

A message engraved on Vinnie Paul‘s grave marker reads: “Don’t ever think it’s not a good time, if you do think it’s not a good time. A good time is a good time, a bad time is a bad time, and a wonderful time is irreplaceable. Hellyeah!”

After it was reported back in 2010 that Dimebag‘s grave was vandalized, Vinnie Paul was asked by Artisan News if the person responsible for causing the damage had ever been apprehended. “Nah, nah,” he replied. “But it’s just a real disrespectful thing. I don’t understand why somebody would wanna scratch their name in somebody’s tombstone or anything. But fans are rabid, man; they do unheard-of things. I just wish they would respect him and let him rest in peace and just leave it at that.”

The PANTERA and HELLYEAH drummer was buried on June 30, 2018 next to Dimebag and their mother, Carolyn. He was laid to rest in a custom “Kiss Kasket” provided by KISS members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley. The casket was offered as a gift at Vinnie‘s family’s request. Vinnie was also buried in some of his trademark clothes, including his hat, shoes and flannel.

Speakers at the service included former GRIM REAPER guitarist Nick Bowcott and SiriusXM DJ Jose Mangin. Also appearing at the event were original KISS guitarist Ace FrehleyDISTURBED‘s David DraimanNICKELBACK‘s Chad KroegerANTHRAX‘s Charlie BenanteFOZZY‘s Chris Jericho and ROUGH CUTT‘s Paul Shortino.

Vinnie‘s brother was buried in the original Kiss Kasket prototype in 2004 after his untimely death. The coffin featured the faces of the four founding members of KISS, the KISS logo and the words “Kiss Forever.” Both Abbotts were huge fans, especially Darrell, who was shot dead by a gunman in December 2004.

A public memorial for Vinnie Paul was held on July 1, 2018 at Bomb Factory in Dallas, Texas.

Vinnie passed away on June 22, 2018 at his home in Las Vegas at the age of 54. He died of dilated cardiomyopathy, an enlarged heart, as well as severe coronary artery disease. His death was the result of chronic weakening of the heart muscle — basically meaning his heart couldn’t pump blood as well as a healthy heart.

Not long before his death, Vinnie laid down the drum tracks for HELLYEAH‘s sixth album, “Welcome Home”, which was released in September 2019.

Dimebag and Vinnie Paul formed PANTERA in the mid-eighties in Texas. The band recorded four independent albums before their 1990 major label debut, “Cowboys From Hell”, introduced a heavier sound and made them a favorite with metal fans. 1994’s “Far Beyond Driven” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 without benefit of a commercial hit single.

The group splintered in 2002 following the departure of volatile lead singer Philip AnselmoDime and Vinnie, as they were known to their fans, regrouped with DAMAGEPLAN, releasing the band’s debut album, “New Found Power”, in February of 2004. The group was touring in support of the record at the time of Dimebag‘s murder.

Dimebag‘s death was a devastating blow to the close-knit hard rock and metal community. He was known to his fellow musicians for his hospitality, friendship and partying spirit, and was a legend among fans and peers for his powerful, innovative and unmistakable playing style.

20 new bands in the Brutal Assault 2021 line-up for Xmas!

BRUTAL ASSAULT 2021 update:

” If any of you orthodox metalheads do not have a ticket yet, do not waste any more time as we have confirmed a thrash legend from the Bay Area, the forerunner of Machine Head – yes, Phil Demmel will bring the re-united VIO-LENCE! By the time of the festival their new EP should be out, so you can be looking forward to some new stuff! The thrash unit of our line-up is further joined by British ONSLAUGHT, who are taking the genre to a next level of brutality with their new album “Generation Antichrist” and technical deatthrashers REVOCATION, who are extremely cleverly oscillating between the 80’s tradition and more technical modern!

Brutal Assault’s line-up is not just about destructive power. Regardless of the genre, everybody just wanna have fun and the trio of stoner rock bands, who will take over our stages, will undoubtedly make the beer flow. Get ready for a huge moshpit at the popular jokers RED FANG as well as at the vital heavy rockers CLUTCH. The third to rock the stage is JOHN GARCIA and his The Band of Gold, the owner of the unforgettable voice of the legendary Kyuss!

Now let’s add up a bit of death metal. Its melodic and atmospheric offshoot will be represented twice by Finland: INSOMNIUM and MORS PRINCIPIUM EST! The faster and more progressive position is taken by Americans – Trevor Strnad with his melodic THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, striking progressives RIVERS OF NIHIL and NEKROGOBLIKON with their crazy little green goblin. And on top of all of these we can’t forget the Danish quartet adoring a shamelessly rotten sound – UNDERGANG! Ugh!

Our list wouldn’t be complete without a dash of experimental. The pioneers of industrial / electro rock DIE KRUPPS surely do not need a further introduction. However, we are also adding the pioneers of the Czech EBM – the masters of provocation, messengers of evil and kings of Czech hard electronics VANESSA! You can also look forward to the Norwegian MANES, whose unique mix of rock, electronic genres and heavy guitars has no borders whatsoever. No less interesting will be the reunited death/doom PHLEBOTOMIZED from the Netherlands. Hardcore punk hybrid from Northern California, balancing consciousness with total chaos and elements of metal ferocity, will be brought to you by DEATH BY STEREO!

We are nearly finished. But have no worries, black and doom metal is not to be forgotten! Melancholy from Germany will get over you with funeral doom AHAB and their murmur as deep as the Marian Trench. Furthermore, and epic mixture of atmospheric black metal with sludge / post-hardcore will be spread acroos the fortress by REGARDE LES HOMMES TOMBER. The atmospheric wave will also come across with English WINTERFYLLET, whose black metal uncovers doom and pagan-folk sceneries.

Brutal Assault 2021 will take place in five monstrous days on August 10-14. 2021. As for now, ⅔ of the festival’s line up of 150 performers are confirmed, so there are more names to be added still!
If you’d like to support us, get your ticket as soon as possible. We are looking forward to all of you! “

Swedish guitarist and producer Ola Englund, renowned for his work with Six Feet Under, The Haunted and Feared, will release his second solo album titled Starzinger in early 2021.

Mixed and mastered by Clawfinger’s Jocke Skog, Starzinger follows-up Englund’s debut solo album, Master Of The Universe, released in early 2018 and features Delta Empire on drums along with a number of guest appearances, including guitar virtuoso Jeff Loomis (Arch Enemy, Nevermore).

Portraying the artwork of Costin Chioreanu (Paradise Lost, At The Gates, Emperor), Starzinger sees Englund merging influences of prog with ’80s rock and metal. “Compared to the previous album Master Of The Universe, Starzinger will just be way more heavy, more of the chunky metal that people are more used to when they see and hear about me,” says Englund about this new effort. “Prog elements are still there though. But emphasis is still about making car-riding music fit for any type of journey.”  Pre-orders are now available here.

Leading single “Stars & Ponies”, featuring Brandon Sills on electronics and synths, is curently available on all digital platforms.

Lisbon heavy rockers Miss Lava have unveiled their post-apocalyptic video for “The Great Divide”. The track comes by way of the band’s new full-length, Doom Machine, set for release January 15th, 2021 via Small Stone Records and Kozmik Artifactz.

The perfect soundtrack for the post-lockdown world, the band’s fourth album and follow-up to 2017’s Dominant Rush EP, stands as their densest output to date doused in kaleidoscopic riff explorations and hypnotic interludes; a multi-textured sonic journey that’s at once deep, heavy, mesmerizing, and cathartic. Captured live at Generator Music Studios in Sintra, Portugal by Miguel “Veg” Marques, the record carries with it the warmth and soul of a band full of fresh vigor and perhaps the demons of these tumultuous times.

“The Great Divide” video was filmed at Mina de São Domingos, a spectacular deserted open pit mine in Alentejo, Portugal. The site is one of the volcanogenic massive sulfide ore deposits in the Iberian Pyrite Belt, which extends from the southern Portugal into Spain. It was the first place in Portugal to have electric lighting.

Comments vocalist Johnny Lee, “‘The Great Divide’ is an euphemism for death; an apocalyptic vision for mankind. We keep destroying our planet and forgetting that when it ends, it ends for everyone.”

Adds director José Dinis, “It’s a concept story about an apocalyptic world, where a unhopeful man just tries to survive. As in real life, there is always a way out, a solution, a chance to live a more colorful life, no matter what.”

The record is loosely focused on the tragic death of guitarist K. Raffah’s infant son and the other members’ children born during the creative process. “Doom Machine is a very emotional experience for us…,” Raffah shares. “[My son] was only here for a month and a half, but his light was very bright. We feel his presence every time.”

Immortal Guardian Unveil On-the-Nose Lockdown Video, “Lockdown”

Two years from now, or five, or ten, or fifty, folks are gonna stumble upon media from this era and immediately be like, “Oh, yeah, that must have been made during the great pandemic of 2020.” All the isolation music videos, composite band photos made up of members shot alone, etc. — it’ll be instantly identifiable as from right now just from the format.

Immortal Guardian have taken that concept to its logical conclusion in their new music video — for the appropriately titled song, “Lockdown” — by rendering performances of each band member in a window that looks like a Zoom call. If that ain’t 2020, what is? The only thing that’s missing is a roll of toilet paper… or maybe it’s perfect that there isn’t any.

Check it out below. Immortal Guardian’s new album, Psychomatic, comes out on February 21 via M-Theory Audio; pre-order here.

Cradle Of Filth drummer Martin “Marthus” Skaroupka has posted live drum cam video of “Lustmord And Wargasm (The Lick of Carnivorous Winds)” shot at an undisclosed show. Check it out below.

The song is taken from the band’s third album, Cruelty And The Beast, released in 1998.

Vocalist Sarah Jezebel Deva, who was with Cradle Of Filth for 14 years before leaving the band in 2009, recently announced a new collaboration with Mortiis that is currently in the works. This has led to her offering a personal look into some of her experiences working on various albums over the course of her career. Following is a new installment.

Sarah: “Midian and Vempire will forever be close to my heart; many many memories. I remember when I was doing ‘Queen Of Winter Throned’ in the studio and I was doing the ending section, the Eastern style vocal, Dani said ‘Just go for it, do what you want.’ He then left the studio, probably for a pint of shandy, and  I worked hard with the awesome engineer Mags doing all my harmonies. I was so excited for Dani to get back and hear what I had done. I was still very young, only been with them a few years, and I was over the moon that he loved what I had done and I had a chance to be me. I admit, he was extremely supportive when I needed it.”
