Legendary London trio ROCK GODDESS return with a brand new 3 song EP entitled ‘It’s More Than Rock And Roll‘ which is set to be released on May 19th, 2017. Digital distribution via Cargo Records and physical CDs, with a 4 page booklet in a jewel case by ROCK GODDESS directly. The first 500 copies will be signed and numbered.
Well, it’s only taken them 30 years, but finally the original, classic ROCK GODDESS trio have released new product. Except that we should NOT see this three-track EP as a follow-up to the self-titled, debut album put out in 1983. Oh no, this is a complete affirmation that Jody Turner (guitar/vocals), Tracey Lamb (bass) and Julie Turner (drums) are fully relevant to the hard rock scene in 2017. So, if you are nestling down for a comfortable trip into the borough of Nostalgia, South London, then you had better be prepared to have this notion scrambled, and then served up with music that has a huge taste for contemporary aptitude and attitude.
In the early 1980s, ROCK GODDESS made a reputation for delivering songs with full frontal riffs, snapping rhythms and snappy melodies. That hasn’t altered. Since the three reunited in 2013, they’ve proven to be an energised, committed live band not reliant on past glories, but hell bent on the pursuit of an even more electrifying future.
Of course, in those formative years, the three went out to establish themselves by taking the best influences and twisting these to suit their talents. Now, though, they have a heritage to live up to. And do it with the confidence, craftsmanship and charisma of a band who know their considerable worth.
The EP is called ‘It’s More Than Rock And Roll‘, which is a statement of how committed the three are to their cause. Jody Turner wrote all the songs and also produced them, with Wes Maebe mixing and mastering the record. And the man has previously worked with a fine array of talents, including Roger Waters, Sir Tim Rice, The Buzzcocks and Beverley Knight. It’s obvious what ROCK GODDESS have done in the studio is take their sharply honed instincts, using these to let rip with a clear-sighted, rousing momentum. ‘It’s More Than Rock And Roll‘ itself is a mid-paced roaster that has genuine depth, yet a chant-a-long chorus to get everyone on their feet. The lyrics betray the Goddess‘ complete immersion in the passion of this genre. The video for this song will premiere on Vintage TV at Nicky Horne’s ‘Friday Rock Show’ on April 21, GMT 22:00.
‘Back Off‘ sees the band locked into an assaulting groove, one full of a spirit born from that essential, yet so often elusive balance between virtuosity and aggression.
‘We’re All Metal‘ not only namechecks iconic artists across metal and rock’s past and present, but is an anthem for all ages. From six to 96, it’ll get everyone pumping out the horn sign!
This is ROCK GODDESS 2017, still thankfully linked to the way they were in 1983, but taking it on to a fresh level.
“It’s been a long time coming, but we got there,” says Jody. “We are so proud of this, and of each other. We hope people enjoy it as much as we want them to.” Jody, Tracey, Julie – proud to be loud!
NEW ALBUM “MADNESS” DUE OUT APRIL 28TH VIA ELEVEN SEVEN MUSIC!
With just weeks until the release of their highly anticipated eighth studio album, All That Remains continue serving up powerful hard rock anthems. The New England-based band will release their Howard Benson (Halestorm, Papa Roach, Chris Cornell) produced record, Madness, on April 28th via Eleven Seven Music. The album has already seen massive success, reaching #1 at metal radio in the US with the first few singles – which can be heard in heavy rotation on Sirius XM’s Octane and Liquid Metal.
Recently, All That Remains have shared another track off the album. The song, entitled “Louder,” ebbs and flows between moments of melodic, guitar driven riffs and heavy, head-banger bars, swelling to a full on pit-ready breakdown complete with a frenzied guitar solo. Vocalist Phil Labonte follows the flow of the track, perfectly switching from clean vocals to guttural howls and enhancing the songs message of standing your ground. You can feel his conviction in the lyrics, “The truth is loud no matter where you hide. Sleep walker, fear monger, I make the rules you ain’t got nothing on me.”
When asked about the inspiration behind “Louder,” Labonte shared, “The song ‘Louder’ is about not backing down or self censoring because people yell about what you think or believe. There will always be people who want to shout you down or say you can’t and that’s when you have to stand firm. There isn’t really an overall theme of this record any more than there was for any other ATR disc. Lyrically it’s all small parts of my life I put together and laid down. They’re all small parts of me.”

Brazilian Metal band Shadowside keeps promoting their new album. The band, formed by singer Dani Nolden, guitarist Raphael Mattos, drummer Fabio Buitvidas and Swedish bassist Magnus Rosén (ex-Hammerfall), posted an audio sample of a previously unreleased song, which will be in the upcoming album.
The song is called “What If”, and it’s already triggering positive reactions from the fans in the band’s social networks.
Shadowside is about to announce all the information regarding the album release and title, which was recorded and produced in Sweden by Fredrik Nordström (Arch Enemy, Hammerfall, Evergrey) and Henrik Udd (Architects, Arch Enemy, Bring me the Horizon).
It’s also worth mentioning that the band has recently been to Orlando, FL, USA, together with acclaimed director of photography Daniel Stilling (known for his works in “The Martian” and “Criminal Minds”), filming their soon to be released music video for the song “Alive”.
Two essential contributions to the history of Norwegian Black Metal, both recorded in 1994, Forgotten Woods’ “As The Wolves Gather” & “Sjel Av Natten” will become part of the ATMF’s collectors editions on a very special format: Digipak CD, 24-page booklet with unreleased photos and an early-days retrospective by Rune Vedda, Forgotten Woods’ former member. Rune will further contribute to this edition with additional notes to every song, explaining the band’s musical approach and concept.
These classics will finally achieve the editions they deserve. Any version still printed and sold by No Colours has to be considered as unofficial, not formally agreed with the band, which doesn’t get any kind of royalties. Therefore, Forgotten Woods invite all the fans to not support No Colours’ unofficial represses.
“ATMF has provided a glorious haven for Forgotten Woods to reside in for many years and will continue to do so in the future. There is no interest in dealing with other labels.
Any releases put forth by other (thieving) labels are to be considered unofficial.” – Forgotten Woods, 2017.
Cult005 – Forgotten Woods – “As The Wolves Gather / Sjel Av Natten” will be released on May 5th. Pre-order available on March 13th via Bandcamp and Eshop

This is not just an ordinary music video premiere! Ukraine based JINJER have decided to release the track “Pisces” off of their latest effort “King Of Everything” (2016, Napalm Records) in support of their upcoming tour as special live session video!
Read what the band has to say about the concept behind filming a new music video:
“I believe we had this idea to record a new version of “Pisces” when we first rehearsed the song with Vlad Ulasevich as a new drummer. His drumming makes the song sound really different. So we finally had some free time last winter, we went to Istok studio in Kiev, did a live recording and shooting, then added over some extra lines, like a few backing vocals and guitars, then Max from Morton Studio made this new magnificent version of mixing and here we are – Pisces video. I hope you will enjoy it!”
Their latest lyric video for the track “Captain Clock” has also been released just a little time ago.

Selfmachine’s sophomore album “Societal Arcade” is finally out via Wormholedeath / The Orchard, Aural Music and Carlo Bellotti Publishing US.
The full-lenght has been recorded at Realsound Studios, Italy and mixed and mastered by Waldemar Sorychta and Dennis Koehne.
“Communion”, a song from the the Boston, Massachusetts-based technical metal act REVOCATION, will be featured in the upcoming “Power Rangers” movie. Fans in America can hear the track when the film is released in theaters on March 24.
“Communion” is taken from REVOCATION‘s latest album, “Great Is Our Sin”, which was released last July via Metal Blade.
Having delivered five killer albums boasting some of the most potent, technical and abrasive metal unleashed over the last decade, it would be easy for REVOCATION to sit back and rest upon their laurels. However, with their constant drive to push their sound ever forward and refusal to compromise their integrity, this could never be the case — and “Great Is Our Sin” is their most dynamic, boundary-pushing and weighty release to date.
When it came time for the follow up to 2014’s “Deathless”, the quartet had their work cut out for them, and their response to the challenge is a record that grabs you by the throat and refuses to let go. Never forcing anything, the songs that would comprise “Great Is Our Sin” came together organically, and while the members being spread all around North America would have been an impediment to some, REVOCATION drew strength from it.
Reuniting with producer Chris “Zeuss” Harris (HATEBREED, SHADOWS FALL), who also helmed “Deathless” and 2012’s “Teratogenesis” EP, the record packs the requisite punch, yet retains the organic feel with which it was conceived. Known for their technical prowess, the band remained dedicated to upping the ante without ever losing sight of the importance of good songwriting.
While the songs come together to make for a cohesive record that is engaging from front to back, they are further united by the lyrical concept penned by Davidson. The title itself appropriated from Charles Darwin‘s quote: “If the misery of the poor be caused not by the laws of nature, but by our institutions, great is our sin”, Davidson went about building a theme that was not only fittingly expansive, but also had real resonance with regard to contemporary society. “The concept revolves around the folly of man throughout the ages,” he said. “Some themes come from historical references that are hundreds of years old, yet sadly these themes are still very relevant today due to mankind’s refusal to learn from the lessons history has taught us, time and time again.”
Regardless of the state of the world, nothing is going to slow REVOCATION down any time soon. Whilst the lineup has changed over the ten years the band has been in existence, Davidson‘s passion has never waned, and they are arguably sounding better than ever as they look toward the future. “We can’t wait to bring these songs out on the road and perform them for different audiences all over the world,” he said. “‘Great Is Our Sin’ is a new chapter for the band, and collectively we feel that it is our defining record to date.”
Next week, REVOCATION will play select shows in Canada, as well as appear in Rhode Island, before heading out on a full USA tour with MORBID ANGEL, SUFFOCATION and WITHERED in May/June.
VALLENFYRE, the U.K. death metal band featuring Gregor Mackintosh, songwriter and guitarist of PARADISE LOST, alongside Hamish Glencross, formerly of MY DYING BRIDE, will release its third album, “Fear Those Who Fear Him”, on June 2 via Century Media Records.
Recorded by the band’s new core lineup consisting of Mackintosh (vocals and guitar), Glencross (guitar and bass) and Waltteri Väyrynen (drums), “Fear Those Who Fear Him” was once again produced by Kurt Ballou (CONVERGE, NAILS) at GodCity Studio in Salem, Massachusetts and mastered by Brad Boatright (OBITUARY, BEASTMILK, YOB) at Audiosiege Mastering in Portland, Oregon. The cover artwork was created by Hal Rotter.
Mackintosh comments: “Most bands refine their sound over the first two or three albums. Becoming more technically adept and honing their craft. VALLENFYRE have done almost exactly the opposite. We have devolved, made things simpler and crush most of the melody under swathes of rotting noise. From ‘A Fragile King’ to ‘Splinters’ and now to ‘Fear Those Who Fear Him’, we have become more savage, more raw and less compromising!”
“Fear Those Who Fear Him” will be released as gatefold LP+CD on limited colored and regular black 180-gram vinyl, as special edition digipak (international version), jewelcase CD (Canada, USA, Mexico only) and on all digital / streaming platforms.
Inspired by the likes of HELLHAMMER, CELTIC FROST, AUTOPSY, ANTISECT, DISCHARGE, NIHILIST, ENTOMBED, early NAPALM DEATH, early BATHORY and CONFLICT, VALLENFYRE have forged a trademark sound between rotting death metal driven by a chainsaw-like guitar sound, filthy doses of crust and early grind as well as crushing, depraved doom.
Onstage, VALLENFYRE performs as a quintet with live members Sam Kelly-Wallace (rhythm guitar) and Chris Casket (bass) completing the lineup.
