DEW-SCENTED Announce Guest Musicians

German thrashers DEW-SCENTED have launched the pre-order of their upcoming album “Icarus” which is set to be released on July 31st.

DEW-SCENTED have also announced that there will be several guest appearances on “Icarus” including Rob Urbinati (Sacrifice) who commented stating: “Sacrifice have been honored by DEW-SCENTED in the past with a cover song (“Apocaplyse Inside” on 1999′s “Ill-Natured“); now I am honored to be included on the track ‘Gleaming Like Silver.’” DEW-SCENTED vocalist Leif Jensen claims that Sacrifice “are one of the best and most underrated thrash metal bands ever” and admits that Sacrifice have had a big influence on his vocals.

No stranger to the band, Dennis Schneider (Retaliation/ Final Breath) is slated to appear on both tracks “The Fall of Man” and “Perpetuated.” The band came up with the idea to have him be a part of “Icarus” from jamming with him during rehearsals. Schneider had the folllowing to say: “I’ve been hooked on DEW-SCENTED ever since the release of ‘Impact’ back in 2003. When they asked me to do a few guest leads on the new album, I didn’t hesitate one second. I’m really happy with the way it turned out – ‘Icarus’ will rip your head off!”

Sonic Syndicate Guitarist Roger Sjunnesson Leaves The Band

Still in the topic of departures, guitarist Roger Sjunnesson is no longer a member of Swedish metallers Sonic Syndicate. He was one of the founders of the band and the main composer.

His official and lengthy statement reads as follows: “Dear Sonic fans and fellow Musicians, I’m no longer a member of the band I founded with my brother Richard ten years ago. A couple of weeks ago Sonic Syndicate distributed a press release stating “Last year we parted ways with two band members”, and I think this ambiguity requires some clarification. The first member they are alluding is of course Richard who left Sonic Syndicate in October 2010, and the second is – as some of you already figured out – me. However it should be noted I was in the band well into this year and that’s it. I will not go into any details. All I can say is that I never wanted this split to happen, and I did my very best to find an equitable solution. I have been in this band since day 1, written many great songs on all Sonic’s albums that I am proud of, toured the world and met fans and every band I grew up listening to. This is nothing you give up easily and it feels strange to not be a part of this band anymore. But this is the last word and it’s time to move forward.”

ANTHRAX Members Speak Out Against Bullying

ANTHRAX members Frank Bello (bass), Charlie Benante (drums) and Joey Belladonna (vocals) taped a four-minute public service announcement (PSA) for the Musicians Opposed To Bullying (M.O.B.) web site addressing the ever-growing problem of bullying, and especially cyber-bullying — the use of technology such as the Internet and phone texting to harass or humiliate others. Check it out above.

Bello: “I was bullied when I was young, living in upstate in New York. I was literally beat up every day I went to school. I was beat up by this tall dude. He was a bigger dude, he was muscular. He would beat me up and keep me under the car every day I went to school. I think [bullying] is for the weak. People that are insecure, people that don’t have good home lives and are taking it out on other people. I think it’s wrong. I think it’s wrong and it’s gotta stop.”

Benante: “The reason why bullying has gotten really out of hand now is because of Facebooks and everything like that. You can post something about someone and it can reach hundreds of thousands of people. I just don’t think the kids that are being bullied — and this is just me saying it — I don’t think you should take it [so] hard [sa to] wanna end your life because of it. This is just a moment in your life. You have so much more of your life. So if someone is bullying you you and no one is listening to you about the bullying, go somewhere else, go to a higher [authority figure].”
