OVERKILL: Pro-Shot Footage Of WACKEN OPEN AIR Performance
Professionally filmed video footage of OVERKILL‘s August 3 performance at the Wacken Open Air festival in Wacken, Germany can be seen above.
OVERKILL will play a special show at the legendary punk rock concert venue 100 Club on August 9 during this year’s Olympic Games in London, England.
The band’s new album, “The Electric Age“, sold 6,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 77 on The Billboard 200 chart.

SYLENCER: Debut Album Trailer Released
SYLENCER, the Chicago-based act featuring Markus Johansson (lead guitar, lead vocals) and Johnny Rox (bass), has released a trailer for its upcoming debut album, “A Lethal Dose Of Truth“. The CD features guest appearances by some of hard rock and heavy metal’s brightest stars, including Jordan Rudess (DREAM THEATER), Rob Caggiano (ANTHRAX, THE DAMNED THINGS), Brendon Small (DETHKLOK), Andy La Rocque (KING DIAMOND), Gene Hoglan (DETHKLOK), and nearly a dozen others.
Due on September 4, “A Lethal Dose Of Truth” will be released in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland via dPulse Recordings/Ovrtone Music Group, Inc., with the band making the CD available in the rest of the world independently via their newly formed record label, Sylencer Records, Inc.

TARJA TURUNEN: ‘Act I’ CD, DVD, Blu-Ray Due In August
earMUSIC, the Hamburg, Germany-based rock branch of Edel Group, has set an August 27 release date for “Act I“, the new concert CD, DVD and Blu-ray from former NIGHTWISH vocalist Tarja Turunen. The effort was recorded on March 30 and March 31 at Teatro El Círculo in Rosario, Argentina. Each of the two shows featured a different setlist with the exception of five songs, including three tracks from Tarja’s time with her previous band (“Nemo“, “The Phantom Of The Opera” and “Over The Hills And Far Away“).
In other news, Tarja is in pre-production for her third solo album, which is expected to be released sometime next year. She says, “I have 25 songs where to choose the best ones for the album. Some of the musicians are already working on them with me.”

Video footage of Dave Mustaine Being Pelted By Rocks At Metal Fest Croatia
As The Gauntlet report, Megadeth left the stage early due to band members, mainly Dave Mustaine, taking a barrage of bottles and rocks while performing. You can check out the fan-filmed footage above of the attack. The final rock hits Dave at the 9:50 mark.
Rumor at the event was Dave Mustaine got into an argument with Blackie Lawless of W.A.S.P. resulting in W.A.S.P. dropping off the bill last minute. This has yet to be confirmed and doesn’t sound all that plausible as W.A.S.P. was already at the show, why would they split. Plus the fact that frontman Blackie Lawless is a born-again christian like Mustaine. My guess is they even shared favorite bible versus backstage. Or maybe it is true and Mustaine has in the contract that only one band can be religious zealots on the headlining stage. Anyways, upon hearing that W.A.S.P. pulled out, fans were pissed and let Mustaine know it with the bottle and rock attack followed by the inevitable stage hand trying to calm the crowd down while being booed himself.

The Gauntlet reader Paolo R. has sent us the following update from last nights Croatia Metalfest.
“When Dave Mustaine came out with the rest of Megadeth, there was a group of possibly drunk and rowdy fans near the front. They kept throwing beer on stage towards Mustaine but security put a stop to it. Then all of the sudden a rock came from their general direction and hit Dave in the head.
“There was some talk about Megadeth being the reason W.A.S.P. didn’t perform earlier in the night.”

LIFE OF AGONY Singer Releases ‘Silver Candy’ Video
“Silver Candy“, the new video from transgender singer Mina Caputo — once known as Keith Caputo, the front-person for the popular rock band LIFE OF AGONY — can be seen below. The clip was directed/produced by Dan Quigley, also known as Dan Beast.
This simple, “sober” take on such a gorgeous song from Caputo‘s 2008 record, “A Fondness for Hometown Scars“, was filmed in glorious 1080p HD quality in less than a day.
These two lifelong friends used this filming as a creative experiment, if you will, to jump-start Dan in his future filming/directing endeavors.

MACHINE HEAD Added To SLIPKNOT’s ‘Knotfest’
MACHINE HEAD has been added to SLIPKNOT‘s first-ever Knotfest, an extraordinary two-date metal and hard rock festival set to take place on August 17 in Council Bluffs, Iowa and August 18 in Somerset, Wisconsin.
Commented the festival organizers: “The mighty MACHINE HEAD has been tapped as one of the artists to replace the cancelation of LAMB OF GOD and DETHKLOK. We are very excited that MACHINE HEAD is rushing back from Europe to play Knotfest. They will perform at both the Iowa and Somerset/Minneapolis Knotfest shows.
