UK based Modern Thrash heroes Sylosis just completed the work on their new record. The upcoming album is called “Monolith” and was recorded with Romesh Dodangoda in Wales at Monnow Valley Studio.
Vocalist and guitar player Josh Middleton commented: “Some people might not have expected us to come out with a new album so quickly but we already had a few songs written for this album by the summer of 2010. We’ve spent as much time writing this album as any of the others and I think we’re all the most proud we’ve ever been. Monolith is the best representation of us as a band in terms of our diverse influences and stylistically it’s what we’ve always been aiming for. A mixture of thrash, big doomy riffs and dark atmospherics and ambience.”

Three recent albums by pioneering guitarist Marty Friedman – whose groundbreaking work with Megadeth and Cacophony continues to receive international acclaim to this day – will receive North American releases by Prosthetic Records on August 14. Two of the titles – 2010′s Bad D.N.A. and 2008′s Future Addict – have until this year only been available in Japan, where Friedman now lives, while 2006′s acclaimed Loudspeaker, originally released Stateside by Shrapnel Records, will be made available domestically once again. You can head over to the Prosthetic store now to pre-order a bundle consisting of all three titles!
Friedman rose to prominence when he co-founded the revolutionary guitar band Cacophony with his friend Jason Becker. From there, he joined metal legends Megadeth in 1990, who would soon go on to write and record the thrash metal classic Rust In Peace. Throughout his decade-long stint with the iconic group, during which the band sold 10 million albums worldwide, aside from lending his unmistakable “exotic” sound to the band, Friedman co-wrote the music to several notable songs, including the title track to the multi-platinum “Countdown To Extinction,” Youthanasia‘s fierce opening statement “Reckoning Day” and Cryptic Writings’ haunting “Trust.”

In “Bringing Metal To The Children“, Zakk Wylde, the man who turned heavy metal touring into a journey of fantastical excess, shares what really goes on behind tour bus windows and backstage doors.

After the very recent release of their EP Perspective, it is with heavy hearts that vocalist Elliot Coleman and TESSERACT have parted ways. A statement from bassist Amos Williams can be seen below:
“Sadly, our good buddy Elliot has decided to leave team TesseracT.
We’d like to thank Elliot for everything he has done for us. We have loved having him be a part of this beast. He introduced us to a completely different side of our sound, as well the delights of Pho! Things we will always be grateful for.
So, as well as continuing to write and record album 2, we are also on the hunt for that special (shpecial) person to be the new full-time TesseracT vocalist.”
